- The Centre for Rock Characterisation brings together prominent
research groups who have a proven track record of local and
international success. The Centre works towards the expansion of
existing cross-disciplinary knowledge of rock properties, to
maintain Curtin University and the State of Western Australia at the
forefront of oil and mining expertise.
-
- The Centre’s focus is joint research and the development of
synergies in overlapping areas between mining engineering,
geophysics, and reservoir engineering.
Understanding rock properties with application to the oil & gas, and
mining markets is of immense importance to the resources sector
future of the world. Researchers in the group have individually won
national and international prizes.
Over the last six years the industrial income from mining and
petroleum company research was almost $11,000,000. This is
indicative of the level of industrial funding for leading-edge
research.
